John Osumi is a senior technology and product leader who has spent two decades building the intelligent systems that public transportation runs upon. He currently leads mobile video product management and global strategic initiatives at Luminator Technology Group, the world's largest manufacturer of bus, rail, and aerospace technology products.
His career traces the full spectrum of mobile technologies: engineering modem and streaming-video firmware at Qualcomm, founding and running Bishop Peak Technology as CEO for more than a decade, leading software solutions as a vice president at Icomera, rebuilding product management within Luminator, and advising operators and vendors through Osumi Consulting. The throughline is using AI, IoT, data analytics, and agentic workflows to make transit operations more efficient, reliable, and secure at scale.
Based on California's Central Coast, John has been deeply engaged in his community, chairing regional transportation committees, serving on the Cal Poly Alumni Association board, and leading local non-profit and community organizations.
